What is the Rapid Chloride Penetration Test (RCPT)?

The RCPT measures the electrical charge passed through a concrete specimen when subjected to a constant voltage over a specified time (typically 6 hours). The amount of charge (in coulombs) that passes through the specimen indicates its permeability to chloride ions — and hence, its durability against corrosion.
